821 6th St., "THE LOFT"

　　　I didn't know about Eugene Smith except "Minamata", "Country Doctor" and "Walk to Paradise Garden". The encounter to a photo of Theronious Monk record jacket at a Japanese Soba Noodle Shop, it was a catalyst to know other Eugene Smith. I was drawn to it, I searched on internet, then I found it was taken by Eugene Smith. It was only a few years ago. The photo which is a man plays a piano was taken at "The Loft".
　　　A movie about The Loft was playing at a museum which I visited today. It draws Eugene Smith's life and many of jazz musicians at "THE LOFT". Eugene Smith took a lot of photos and taped everything over there. He is a photographer through and through and they are jazz musicians through and through. The way they were engrossed in it looked, in a way, like crazy. But, passionate and extremely happy time which is like unescapable nightmares is going to be a really precious era and records.
